Recently i went to Anna University to apply for transcripts on 6th Aug 2012. I would like to update the procedure so as to help those who are trying to get one. The official procedure from Anna University makes itself pretty clear, this can be found following this link:-
PROCEDURE FOR OBTAINING TRANSCRIPTS. However, I am going to make it further easier for all.
Please follow these steps in the same order and it works like a charm and avoids unnecessary hassles.
Step 1:- Decide how many transcripts would you be needing. Cost of one set of transcript is 500/- INR. Multiply your set of transcripts number with 500 and get a DD for that amount.
Step 2:- I needed 2 sets, so I got a DD from SBI for Rs. 1000/- in favor of "Controller of Examinations, Anna University, Chennai-25" ( make sure this is written completely on the DD ) payable at Chennai.
Step 3:- Photocopies of the following is mandatory, it is better to get 2 copies with you.
- Degree Certificate ( Front and Back )
- Consolidated Mark Sheet ( Front and Back ) on A3 Paper- Make sure it has the entire thing same as the original.
- 10th Mark List ( For CBSE Students )/ 12th Mark List ( For State Board )- This is the proof for your Date Of Birth, no other docs are accepted.
Step 4:- No need of individual mark sheets. But I would suggest to keep one set of copy with you. A Passport size Photo is needed which will be scanned on the right hand corner of your transcripts.
Step 5:- An A3 Size Cover to contain the originals and the photocopies for submission.
Step 6:- The second left entrance ( when you are travelling from Raj Bhavan towards Anna University ) is the campus from where you have to get these. This building comes prior to Director of Technical Education Campus. You can contact the receptionist, she will guide you with the exact location of the department.
Step 7:- When you reach the right department and upon showing all your documents you will be provided with the application.
Step 8:- Fill it accordingly and attach all the documents( Originals, photocopies, DD and photo ). Your Name, Registration No, and your Mobile No has to be written on the reverse side of DD and your photo.
Step 9:- You will be informed a date on which you can get back your transcripts. Make a note of the application number and the contact no ( 044-22357245 ) before you move out of the campus.
Step 10:- On the aforesaid date, it would be fine if you can call and confirm before you go, it will save you unnecessary frustrations. You don't need to carry any adhesives, since the cover which they provide has a peel of sticker and the official seal on it, all you have to do is verify your transcripts and receive your originals without fail after signing a received-form, secure the cover and leave the place.
NOTE:- You don't have to fill the application given from the University's link, since it doesn't contain the application number, they have a printed application form with them. As of now, it takes ~10 days to get your transcripts, so hurry up if you are one of those who does something in the nick of the time.
