2007:

• Establishment of Anna University of Technology Tirunelveli (Act No.28 of 2007 of Tamil Nadu Government
• Prof. Dr. S. Kaliappan assumed charge as the First Vice-Chancellor of Anna University on 17th September 2007
• The engineering colleges situated in the districts of Tirunelveli, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Thoothukudi and Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu are affiliated to Anna University Tirunelveli

2008:

Inauguration of University Departments, Anna University of Technology Tirunelveli on 5th September, 2008

The Departments offer the following Programmes:

• Dual Degree Programme in Software Engineering
• Dual Degree Programme in Computer Science and Engineering
• Dual Degree Programme in Information Technology
• Post graduation in Remote Sensing
• Post graduation in Embedded System
• Post graduation in Applied Electronics
• Post graduation in Computer Science and Engineering
• Post graduation in Master of Business Administration
• Post graduation in Master of Computer Application

2009:

• Two New Engineering Colleges were established at Thoothukudi and Nagercoil as University Colleges of Engineering (Constituent Unit of Anna University Tirunelveli) in September 2009.
• Introduction of the following new programmes at University Departments
• Post graduation in Aeronautical Engineering
• Post graduation in Energy Engineering
• Post graduation in Thermal Engineering
• Post graduation in Computer Aided Design / Computer Aided Machine

2010:

• Implementation of Tamil as medium of instruction for Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering courses in the constituent colleges at Nagercoil and Tirunelveli
• Implemented E-governance Examination Management System.
• Graduation of the first batch of students.
